"Can you guys bring back the bowling league?"
We are so glad you asked! Intramural Bowling League starts September 16 and will be held every Tuesday starting at 6 PM through November 11. Please email mwrnaskwsports@us.navy.mil or call 305-293-2480 to sign up.
"The staff were super professional and friendly. However, the equipment and the building was run down. This place needs some TLC, especially for our active military. Please update the equipment and facility itself."
Thank you for your feedback and kind words about our staff. We do follow an equipment replacement plan and work to repair equipment as quickly as possible when issues arise.
Most of our fitness equipment is new or has been purchased within the last three years. Specifically, equipment at the Boca Chica Fitness Center was replaced in April 2023, and new pieces have been added since. Please feel free to stop by so we can discuss your concerns further and gather more details.
"I called several times in regards to placing a request to turn on the lights at the Sigsbee Tennis and Basketball courts."
The lights at the Sigsbee tennis and basketball courts are working correctly and remain on until 10 PM. If you notice an instance where the lights are not on, please call the gym or submit another customer feedback comment so we can address it right away.
"You should include self-defense classes like martial arts or kick boxing. Basic fundamentals skill. This could inspire individuals to continue or improve their physical fitness abilities maintaining military strength readiness."
Thank you for your suggestion! We will look into adding programming such as self-defense or martial arts classes and explore options for bringing in a certified instructor to support this type of programming.
"The Sigsbee gym is overrun with VA disabled guests. Nobody is there to monitor and make sure the gym is being utilized by the people who it’s meant for."
The Sigsbee gym is an unstaffed facility and has transitioned to ID card access only - only registered and authorized users now have access. If you notice any concerns or misuse, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the MWR fitness department so we can address them promptly.
"Please make opening the pool a MWR priority! Families rely on it for safe aquatic exercise & swim lessons."
Please know that reopening the pool is a top MWR priority.
The pool has faced significant challenges, and the repairs needed are extensive. Securing the proper funding and approvals took time, but this was necessary to ensure the work could be done correctly and safely.
We’re excited to share that construction is starting soon, and we’ll provide updates with a timeline as the project moves forward. We can’t wait to bring this facility back for our community to enjoy!
Recreational Lodging - Vacation Rentals
"The Cottages are great. Clean, lots of space, etc. The only recommendation I have is to add an outdoor grill to each, or at least a grill for every few cottages. Maybe pave the gravel lot too. It gets very dusty when dry and nasty when wet.
Great office staff. The cabins/trailers are really nice unless it rains. Then you have to wade to your vehicle. Something needs to be done about that. It is really bad. We have stayed there several times but won't stay in them again until there is something done to remedy this."
Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the cottages and appreciate your recommendations.
Regarding outdoor grills, we appreciate your suggestion and are looking into options to see if adding them would be possible to enhance the guest experience.
We understand the concerns about the gravel parking lot. The good news is that funding and approval for a paving project have been secured, and we’re now moving through the phases of the construction process. We’ll provide an update with a timeline once the project has been awarded.
"Hours of operation differ on your website from what dodlodging.net lists."
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The MWR website reflects the correct hours, and we are working on updating DoDLodging.net to match. We appreciate your patience as we get this corrected.
"No WIFI in our cottage."
Thank you for your feedback. When the cottages first opened, there was a delay in establishing Wi-Fi service, but we’re happy to share that all cottages are now equipped with Wi-Fi.
"The front desk staff were unprofessional."
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re truly sorry for your experience with our front desk staff, that’s not the level of service we strive to provide. We’ve addressed this directly with the team and have implemented additional customer service training to ensure a better experience moving forward.
Recreational Lodging - Campground
"Campgrounds hours are advertised as 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM but the office closes for a 45 minute lunch. Can you please update your advertised hours as a courtesy to customers?"
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. To better serve our guests, the campground office will no longer close during business hours, ensuring continuous service.
"The camp host on Sigsbee has a very unwelcoming demeanor."
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience with our camp host. We will be addressing this concern directly, reviewing expectations with the team, and ensuring additional customer service training takes place to provide a more welcoming experience for all guests.
"A laundry facility has been closed for over a year for a ceiling collapse not a roof a ceiling this RV park has over 400 sites and only 10 washers in 2 buildings with 7 captured in your closed building."
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your concerns. The bathhouse and laundry facility you mentioned sustained significant hurricane damage, which caused the closure. A project has been awarded for FY26 to complete the necessary repairs and reopen the facility. We will provide updates with a timeline as the project progresses.
"Repair needed in the Women's Bath. One shower has very reduced water pressure. May be as simple as cleaning the shower head. Another need: the camp hosts should have a sign on their site when on duty so these things can be reported."
Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.
We are looking into the reported water pressure issue in the women’s bathhouse and will have our team inspect and address it as soon as possible.
We also appreciate your suggestion regarding camp host signage. We are reviewing options to ensure guests can easily identify when camp hosts are on duty so that concerns can be reported promptly.
“We love this campground — it’s beautiful, with friendly staff and great nearby amenities like the fitness center and bathhouses! One recommendation: allowing small pet fences (like a 4x8 ft. enclosure) within RV spots. This would make it easier to safely contain small dogs while still ensuring supervision and compliance with campground rules. Just a suggestion for consideration!”
Currently, we don’t allow pet fences at campsites because managing them across all sites has proven difficult. Unfortunately, we’ve experienced situations where guests did not adequately supervise their pets, which led to safety concerns for other guests, staff, and the surrounding environment. These challenges have resulted in very specific allowances for pets at our campgrounds. For that reason, we ask that all pets always remain on a tether and under positive control while outside. We truly appreciate your understanding and are always grateful for respectful feedback like this. Enjoy the rest of your stay
"The laundry service center is closed in the main RV park; in the second RV park they have a wonderful open building. Three out of six washing machines are broken. Both coin machines do not work, and the exchange would not give more than $2 in quarters. They said it was MWR’s responsibility to supply quarters. The RV Park itself is very nice. Hopefully, you get the laundry situation figured out."
Thank you for your feedback. Out‑of‑service machines are reported to maintenance right away, and we work to get them repaired as quickly as possible. Coin changers are checked weekly, and when issues are reported, we address them the same day. Change is also available in the office to assist guests when needed.
We appreciate your patience and are glad to hear you’re enjoying the RV park overall. Your feedback helps us improve as we work to provide a better experience for all our guests.
Marinas
Comments pertaining to the Sigsbee Fuel Pump.
Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback regarding the fuel pumps at Sigsbee Marina. We’ve received numerous comments about slow pump speeds, and we understand how frustrating this has been for our patrons.
Please know that all required maintenance on the pumps is completed regularly; however, the recurring issues have made it clear that a more permanent solution is needed. A project to replace the fuel pumps is currently in development. We will provide updates as the project progresses and appreciate your patience as we work toward improving this service.
"The men's room is filthy, soap dispensers are broken, showers dirty, the entire restroom facility for men and women is below standards."
We have addressed the custodial issues at the Boca Chica Marina restrooms, as our goal is to keep these facilities clean and well-maintained. If you find them not meeting standards in the future, please stop by the office or submit another customer feedback comment so we can address it right away. Thank you for helping us improve our services.
"The Marina store is no longer selling beer."
Due to resale cost percentage requirements, selling beer at the marina store became no longer cost‑effective for our customers. As a result, beer is no longer sold at the marina store; however, customers are welcome to purchase items at the NEX prior to bringing them on marina rentals. We appreciate your understanding as we work within program guidelines to continue offering quality services.
Food & Beverage
We appreciate all customer feedback, as it helps us improve our programs and services. However, comments containing disrespectful language will not be posted.
If you’d like to discuss your concerns directly, please feel free to reach out to our Food & Beverage Manager or the MWR Director. We are always open to constructive feedback and working with our patrons to enhance their experience. mwrnaskwfb@us.navy.mil.
"No wind protection. Couldn’t stay."
The wind screens at Sunset Lounge were upgraded to a heavier plastic to provide better wind protection, and we’re excited to continue exploring additional upgrades to make the space even more comfortable and enjoyable for our patron’s year‑round.
"The Sunset Lounge needs a food vender or truck. People are going for food and drinks and are disappointed when there's no food and leave."
Thank you for your feedback. Food operations at the Sunset Lounge were previously contracted to a local vendor; however, the contract was not renewed, and we did not receive interest from another vendor. MWR is now staffing the kitchen, and as our in-house staffing increases for the season, we plan to further expand food service to better align with operating hours. Kitchen closures are posted on our social media pages, and we will continue to share updates as both bar and kitchen hours expand.
