POSITION:  Maintenance Mechanic Leader/NL-4749-10

SALARY:  $19.12-$22.31/PH

EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:  Full Time (Scheduled to work 35-40 hours weekly. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Eligible for ALL group benefits.)

DUTIES:  Incumbent must pass on instructions received from supervisors to team members, getting work started and assigning the immediate task to be performed by individual members; Working alongside team members and setting the pace. Demonstrating proper work methods and ensuring that needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply storage areas. Obtain needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that arise during work. Incumbent must maintain current knowledge and answering questions of the other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions and other orders. Incumbent is responsible for overseeing workload of the team as well as checking work progress to ensure the supervisor’s instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Incumbent also reports to supervisors the status and progress of work, and any causes of work delays. Answers questions of supervisors on overall work operations and problems, such as the need for additional on-the-job training

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:  Incumbent is required to work from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms and where parts are in hard to reach places. Required to stand, stoop, bend, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent is frequently required to lift, carry and set up tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may left and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, The incumbent may be confronted with frequent periods of extreme weather, ranging from extremely humid conditions to extremely cold or damp conditions. Incumbent is exposed to dust, dirt hazardous noise, and unpleasant odors when repairing structures and operating tools. Injuries may occur in lifting heavy pieces of lumber or equipment; more serious injuries may occur from use of power tools and in falls from ladders and scaffolds. Safety gear must be worn which may include the use of gloves, hard hats, protective footwear, ear plugs and eye protection.

QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum two years documented general experience, with two years documented specialized experience in the applicable combination of trades noted herein sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Must be knowledgeable in Plumbing work, Carpentry and Paint, Electrical work and Masonry. Must be able to interpret blueprints and sketches and apply correct specifications and comply with the applicable building codes. Must have the knowledge of advanced shop mathematics for the planning and computing of projects that include areas, tangents and circles. The ability to read, write, and follow appropriate plans and specifications and the ability to communicate verbally is also required.
